Introduce Yourself

Quick Intro

Since it seems like this is the thing to do on here (and I've been posting more lately),

I bought on the corner of Cedar & Dauphin back in 8/05. I'm a graduate of Temple Fox School and work for UBS out in Conshohocken, currently studying for my CFA license. I definitely camp on here at work after a few of my buddies, StillLife & MrT, were saying they post on here.

My grandfather owned a mechanic shop, Honer's, on Girard & Palmer caddy-corner from Lou Wolf's for a number of years until he passed away a few years back. My old man is from Kensington and a North Catholic alum, so although I grew up in Mayfair and then Warminster, I was down here all the time as a kid. Hopefully that removes me from the hipster/newbie category from all the old timers, but if not I'm not going to sweat it.

I try to get involved in the community whenever I can and most recently attended the meeting on the Holst Building at the St. Anne's Senior Center. My girlfriend moved in last summer and we couldn't be happier with the neighborhood. Looking forward to contributing on here moving forward and potentially meeting some of you along the way - I'm definitely planning on hitting up Starboard in the near future, and go to Memphis Taproom somewhat regularly (all about brunch).

8XX E. Almond...1980(?)-1984

Hi. My name is Mary Parks, and I lived on the 800 block of E. Almond from about 1980-1984. I was 4 when we moved in the summer of '84. My mom was Betty and my grandmom was Mae. I remember one of our neighbors - Peg...If there's anyone that remembers us, or can get me in contact with Peg or her family (if they remember us) I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Mary Ann Parks

Who are you?

Assume we know nothing about you and give us a paragraph or two on yourself. What should we know?

Fletcher and Ceder

Wondering how the area around Fletecher and Ceder is? Any vandalism to cars and property? Any safety issues? I'm in negotiations on a house in the area and just would like to know what i'm getting myself into, any help and suggestions would be great thanks!

New to the hood

Hey all! Mike here!

After skirting around the city for years (from South Jersey [Haddonfield area], to Malvern, to Abington) I've now landed in Fishtown, around Frankford and Susquehanna.

I'm loving it so far. The easy of getting around and having things so close on hand is great.

A quick question. Any recommendations for sports bars/pubs to catch some football on Sundays?

I also read somewhere about trying to get a Happy Hour going. I'm all up for one to meet my new neighbors.

Since I know there are a few PhillyBloggers on here, I'm the same MetalDeth81 that's on there.

Hello Gov'nah!

Hey All - I've been hanging in here for a year or so and realized I've never introduced myself.

I'm 27. regular old dude. Love beer and recreation and music - all together when possible.

My dog Maggie is rad - mutt that looks like a Pit somewhat, brown brindle with white patches. Anyway, we'll be here for a long time so maybe we'll see ya around.

Thanks for this board - I have definitely learned a lot, and laughed a lot as well.

Born in the hood

I was born at St Mary's Hospital - now the Marie Lederman Senior Center at Palmer and Frankford. Except for a short stint as a married person living in the "great northeast", I've lived here ever since. I'm a Holy Namer, as were my parents, grandparents and children. I'm now a St Anne'er.
I just discovered this website while looking for the Fishtown Star/Spirit websites. I hope to be active on the site. Thanks for the opportunity. MareYeager
