Swimming

I just took a dip in my local pool, and I feel quite refreshed. Just thought I'd share. Have a nice day.

YOU CAN CUT OFF DAN'S HAIR!

That's right...
my hair has gotten long enough that I'm going to donate it to Locks of Love.

I've decided to do it as a fundraiser for Summerfield's Youth & Children's ministries - specifically for the Camp Scholarship Fund (which can go either for summer camp, retreats, or mission trips).

We're going to have a "Your Donation is Your Bid" auction.
Here's now it works...

You bid by making a donation.
At the end, whoever has made the biggest donation wins.
You can add money to your bid at any time until the auction closes.

Please note that all bids are kept. Your bid is a donation.
If you get outbid, you don't get your money back.

We'll take bids in person at the July 31 picnic.
Bidding will end at 8:00 pm on July 31.
The winner will be able to immediately cut off Dan's hair with a pair of scissors.

(Please note - this will not be a full scalping. Dan will put his hair back into a ponytail at the base of his neck, and you will get to cut the ponytail off behind the hair tie - approx. 11 inches.)

Is The City Of Philadelphia on Holiday Today????

I have been trying to call L & I and the Health Department all day. (L & I told me they can clean up that disgusting yard next door - when is the question - but I would have to call the Health Departmnet about the fleas.) I call the number and it just rings and rings - for 15 minutes!

Does anyone know anybody that can help us? We are getting nowhere with these clowns and it is getting really bad. Our 15 year old cat Joshy needs to be taken to the vet - he doesn't have the fleas on him anymore, but the poor thing has been itching so much that his hair is falling out in clumps. He is my favorite and it is just breaking my heart. I am so mad at the woman who owns that house next door I can barely see straight. Augh. Sorry to vent.

New York Times

Anybody know where in Fishtown I might be able to purchase a Sunday New York Times? I'm addicted to the magazine... it's a problem. I had delivery for a while but got fed up with the erratic delivery service and the fact that it's more expensive to get it delivered than to buy it in the store.

If there's nowhere in Fishtown, suggestions close to Fishtown are appreciated...

Thanks for your help!

Pickup Truck, cargo van, or trailer needed briefly at 5 pm today!

Hi all!

My friend's pickup truck broke this afternoon and is in the shop.

He was going to help me make a quick pickup of a large BBQ grill at 5 pm. It's a short trip - right here in the neighborhood. If anybody out there has a vehicle that will do the job, and is available at or very near 5 pm, I'd very much appreciate a hand. I'm willing/able to toss $10-$20 your way for about 15 minutes of driving.

Thanks!

(note to grill seller: Don't worry, I'll be there - even if we have to roll it from there to here - it's not that far.)

throwing out propane tanks

I use these mini tanks with my grill:

I now have a year's worth of empties stockpiled on my deck. does anyone know if it's OK to throw them out in the regular garbage? I've been hesitant to do this... and wonder if they should be returned somewhere instead. Lowes/Home Depot didn't know what to do with them either.

any thoughts? Bring them to the monthly recycling drop-off at Penn Treaty? Throw them in the river?
