end catalog/junk mail clutter

"The mission of Catalog Choice is to reduce the number of repeat and unsolicited catalog mailings, and to promote the adoption of sustainable industry best practices. We aim to accomplish this by freely providing the Catalog Choice services to both consumers and businesses. Consumers can indicate which catalogs they no longer wish to receive, and businesses can receive a list of consumers no longer wanting to receive their catalogs."

I also

I also recommend:

https://www.dmachoice.org/MPS/mps_consumer_description.php?reg=M#how_to
make sure you register and choose to get out of prospect lists!

There's also a link on that page to opt out from pre-approved credit offers. If you're tired of those, you wanna make sure you opt out that.

We opted out of both several years ago, and it has severely decreased the junk mail we get.

Now if there were just some

Now if there were just some organization to deal with hand-delivered flyers... If I had a fireplace I could put them all to good use.

I'm wondering how well this work's. I know for a fact that I signed on for the do not call list and that does not work to well. So i'm wondering how well this would works compared to that.

How long ago did you sign up

How long ago did you sign up for the Do Not Call list?

We signed up for it and it has worked wonderfully. It does take about a month to kick in, and then a little longer to be fully implemented.

However, you can still get calls from businesses you have done business with in the past - and from non-profit or political organizations. When one calls, I just politely interrupt and say, "We're not interested. Please add us to your do not call list."

What really drives me nuts is at work, where we are inundated with sales calls.

I dislike the circulars and

I dislike the circulars and flyers more than junk mail, actually. At least with the latter it's easily disposed of but the other stuff often blows away and just adds to the amount of garbage in the streets. None of 'em make me the slightest bit interested in patronizing their business, either.

I have a friend who wants to get one of these decals. I can't seem to find the request form on the site.

That link used to go

That link used to go directly to the decal request page.
Looks like they've redone the site and it's sending you to the home page.

I actually have a decal on

I actually have a decal on my front door and have seen the flyers drop immensely. I get maybe one every two weeks or so, as opposed to probably three a day a couple years back. I highly recommend getting one. I had a friend email me the form, but I simply faxed it in and received the sticker in the mail within about a week.

I've definitely seen a decline in them since putting that sticker on my door. I still get them but not nearly as much.
It is ridiculous how many of these things you get in a week. I wind up taking them off of half my neighbors' doors too. I think some of them have a contest with each other to see who can collect the most pizza flyers on their property in any given week.

Since I signed up for and

Since I signed up for and affixed the decal, I've seen a huge decline in the number of menus and such that used to come in my door. Only very rarely does someone put a menu through my mailslot. Of course, the downside is that I don't get a new menu delivered from Ekta. I guess I'll have to walk the block and a half to get a new one.
