Kaz's for Tires

dan's picture

I want to give a very big thumbs-up to Kaz's on Somerset. (If you go north on Aramingo, it's on your right just after you cross Lehigh and go under the railroad track.)

We needed two tires replaced on our church van on Friday. They did the job quickly and at a good price and were very friendly about it. It would have easily cost twice what they charged if we had gotten the tires at some other tire places or quick-service shops.

I plan on taking our own car there in the future, and I'm amazed I didn't find out about this place before.

I also want to give Garrison's Garage a big thumbs up for having the integrity to refer us to such a good place when Garrison's was unable to make the emergeny repair quickly enough.

Yes Garrison's is pretty

Yes Garrison's is pretty upfront if they can't do womething in a timely manner. Thumbs ups to the tire place that Nuzio and Larry99 go to in Port Richmond. Don't know the name but it was quick, cheap, and the hood for over 50 years.

By the way, Garrison's is changing its name to DNA's Garage after all the $$$ I had to put into my car. They did a great job.

I posted this earlier on a

I posted this earlier on a Kaz-related thread, but since we're now talkin' Kaz AND livestock, I'll repeat it here:

My favorite KAZ-the-tire-guy story happened when I first moved to Fishtown in 1999. He replaced my tires (which were just old, not vandalized), and told me that he was a Christian from Iran. On hearing that I was a new pastor in the area, he said it was his custom to give me a gift: a chicken. A live chicken. I said I had no place to keep one and he said it wasn't a pet, but for eating. So I asked him if he would kill it: even offering (generously, I thought) to learn how to clean and pluck it. No, it had to be live. We compromised on a dozen fresh eggs: the best I've ever eaten....

IF that is the purple-ish

IF that is the purple-ish building at Frankford and Somerset, I could not speak more highly of a place. Plus, it's nice to support a local, minority-owned business once in awhile.

cedar ? is that right off of aramingo? because that's where I got a set of tires a couple years ago. This thread, actually, sent me there and I found all the good things said to be true.
