can I trust the car dealerships out here?

jessv's picture

I need to get a cheap car - just a beater to get me to and from work every day. Obviously, it's hard to find an inexpensive, sort of crappy car at a normal dealership. But there's a place or two on Lehigh out here that has stuff in the range I want to spend. There are LAWS against ripping people off, right? Anyone have any experiences with any, esp. paramount?

I really like the guys at

I really like the guys at Lou Wolff, I have bought two cars from them, one a 1998 Tempo and now a 2001 WindStar and the cars and the guys have been great! The Tempo I drove for a year and a half with no problems, and I drive alot with the kids for their therapies, I put about 40,000 miles on the car that year, and it was great, only needed oil changes. I decided to go for a bigger car, sold the Tempo through an ad in the Daily News for the same price I paid Lou Wolf the year prior and bought another from him that I am very happy with.
My Dad and many other family members also have been very happy with them.

Good Luck!

Joe & Jeffro made local recommendations. In the end, we found our sweet & efficient 94 MX-3 by chance on craigslist. Good luck!

For future reference......

For future reference...... Lou Wolff has been around for decades. Our family has always bought our cars from those guys. The late Lou Wolff and my (also deceased) Dad were longtime friends. My Dad was a mechanic by trade- and he always said " Lou's cars are good solid vehicles - He wouldn't sell junk." Also my Uncle Joe ( on the Staab side of the family) were great friends. So yes neighbors.....us old timers know and respect Lou's sons who own the lot- They are good guys.

Of course they are in it for profit,it is a business, but they have always been solid and fair with me, thus my glowing reference, but why do you think that way, what happened? Bad car, bad experience?
You should back up your statement if you are going to malign somebody.

It's ambiguous as to whether

It's ambiguous as to whether Ryan is referring to Lou Wolff, or to local used car lots in general. It seems to me as if he's referring to local used car lots in general.
