I am in my late 40's and I have occassional flashbacks of when i was living in Pennypack woods in the 60's and of seeing a building with a large Dutch Boy Paints logo. I presently own a business in Bridesburg, and after talking to some people there I was told that that building was located somewhere on Aramingo Avenue. I must have seen that building a thousand times driving with my parents.

Exactly where was that building located? When was it taken down and is there any way I can get pictures of that building as it stood? Was the logo just an advertisement or was the business located there?

the building you are talking

the building you are talking about started at the corner of huntington and thompson and went up huntington to aramingo and then down aramingo to cumberland down cumberland tothompson and back up thompson to huntington.this was the dutch boy paint factory. it has since been torn down and replaced with a shopping center. i know this building well since we used to race around it when we were kids. hope this answers your question

Nothing conquers "Old Man

Nothing conquers "Old Man Gloom" like a fresh coat of lead-based paint...

Thst's too funny, given I want to read "Old Man Gloom" as "the gloom that old men get" rather than "gloom, which is like an old man" or "a gloomy old man":.

yes, it was located at

yes, it was located at aramingo @ moyer st, right across the street from the fire house , it was torn down years ago, and many people have said it was toxic material , many people in the neighborhood have died from cancer, living so close to the factory was not a good thing back then.

I remember the lead that was used to be in many paints was the issue. They were just pumping this stuff into the air for years. I'm sure there is a tie to the cancer issues around here but that will never be proven because no one has ever done research on it.

About twenty years ago,

About twenty years ago, there was a Group Action Lawsuit against them. We received the information because we lived within the area that was targeted. We had to fill in paperwork for any member of the household who was a newborn to a certain age (I think it was ten) during a certain timeframe.

They were concentrating on children because of lead and learning disabilities. Two of my brothers did fall into the time period they were interested in; but, we never heard another thing from the lawfirm who was representing those involved in the lawsuit. I also remember before that, the government was testing children in the area for lead.

The problem with these class

The problem with these class action law suits if that no one involved ever seems to get anything worth while. The lawyers profit more then the people who its supposed to help.
