As kids we used to rub

As kids we used to rub cigarette ash on our heads to prove to our parents that we went to church.

If you grew up here, you'd know!

But this thread pointed out to me....this is the first work environment that I've ever worked in where I've not seen *anyone* with ashes, and it's subtly disturbing despite my non-practicing status.

okay, joe... that last

okay, joe...
that last sentence overloaded my brain with double-negatives.

are you saying nobody at your workplace has ashes
or are you saying everybody at your workplace has ashes?

Only one person in my office got smudged. I was supposed to go out to mass at lunch, but of course I was on a conference call so I missed the 12:15 mass. Missed the 6:30 am one this morning because I had to get all the kids ready for the day. Hopefully I will make it to the 7:00 pm mass tonight provided I am not in traffic He**. Does it count if I get the ash off my childs forehead and rub it on me? Kidding!!!

I must have been editing when you posted. I caught it...must stop trying to double-task. I gave up on multi-tasking years ago, but usually do ok doing 2 things at once.

I didn't know until a couple

I didn't know until a couple of years ago that they actually make a cross on the forehead...I just thought it was a thumb-full of ash, until I saw someone with an actual, distinguishable cross.

I hear people are giving up Facebook for Lent...now that's going too far.

some of my coworkers went up

some of my coworkers went up to the hospital chapel and got there ashes. I called them all cheaters when they walked back in the door. bad, bad, bad.
