Louis CK is hilarious, but

Louis CK is hilarious, but he's kind of misguided about parts of this. Unless you have a sat phone your cell signal is not going to space and back, just a couple miles to the nearest cell tower. Also, high speed internet on planes is no harder to do than high speed internet on cell phones. Its really government regulations and desire for for profit that make it seem new and cutting edge. Also, if he is really going to get all 'we shouldn't take technology for granted, ever' then he should be wasting a lot of his life getting all happy every time he uses a fork, starts a fire, or sees a wheel rotating.

yeah, i caught the

yeah, i caught the phone-to-satellite thing too, but let it slide

i don't think his point was that internet-on-a-plane is "cutting edge",
but rather about how quickly we adopt a sense of entitlement

and maybe it would be good if forks and fires and wheels amazed us.

but in his very first

but in his very first example he talked about how entitled he felt to not have to dial zeros on the rotary phone.

we are human, we have big brains, opposable thumbs and can quickly assimilate technology into our day to day lives.

also, i forgot this earlier: planes don't fly the same way birds do.

I believe that you missed his point completely and you might be the kind of person that he is talking about. You picked up on the fact that planes don't fly the same as birds do instead of being amazed that people can fly at all. There are so many things that are good and sweet in this life. I don't understand why people only can see the bad. I'm not one of those who think everything is wonderful but it isn't hard to see what is good. Maybe I'm just lazier than other people but I find it is just too much work to be miserable

Why is it amazing that

Why is it amazing that people can fly at all? its just physics.

just into being contrarian today, eh?

on the off-chance that you really mean what you're saying,
then your logical conclusion is that nothing is amazing since it's all "just physics".

I remember the first remote control TV we had. It was in the 1980s and it wasn't actually the TV that was remote control; it was the tuner in the VCR that we hooked up to it. In any case, it was very exciting to not have to get up out of our seat to change the channel.

I thought this bit was hilarious. The guy reminded of Ken215. He must be a hoot to hang out with.

And I'm with Dan on this one. Too many people have a sense of entitlement. Society can't sustain itself with that kind of attitude.

Unless I missed a giant leap in evolution overnight, people can't fly.
Please...name me, or show me, one person who can fly.
(Superman doesn't count)....
If your gonna nit pick, nit pick correctly.
