I am wondering what people think about Bethal Baptist School. Anyone know anything about them? I just remember as a kid/teen everyone use to tease them and I haven't a clue why? I even asked a friend and she said last night. "Not there, they tease them" I didn't question why, I just left it as is. Let me what you all think. Thank you. by the way. I was thinking about putting my 4 year old in school somewhere and I am looking around and they are in my head. Let me know. Thank you all for the help. Jane

This school has a wonderful staff that live for the Lord and care about our children and the education they receive. I highly recomend this school for your child.

This is a school where Jesus is Lord! While academics are important, spirituality is stressed even more. It is a life-saving sanctuary in the inner-city and a defense against the wicked, immoral teachings of our government public schools. Gotta see to believe!

I am just wondering if you know this first hand. I know a couple of people that are from bethel and they are great kids and also great parents.

I admittedly do not have

I admittedly do not have much interaction (knowingly anyway) with anyone from Bethel, but being a more conservative (some might call fundamentalist) school and faith, I'm not surprised if their parents and students don't get a bit of heckling. I'm pretty sure they don't celebrate Halloween, which as anyone who's given away 600+ pieces of candy knows, is a pretty big deal around here.

I'm pretty sure Bethel calls

I'm pretty sure Bethel calls themselves fundamentalist. I think a lot of folks, not having experienced much religious diversity aside from catholic vs public, might misunderstand that as being cultish.

I'm not 100% sure that Bethel would classify itself as IFB, but I think so. If not, I'm pretty sure they fit much of the understanding (please correct me if I'm wrong):

I have met many very nice people from Bethel, and some not-so-nice. But I've seen that same variation in many other churches (mine included) and in lots of non-church groups too!

I agree, I have met some nice people there when I went to a few weight watcher meetings......

I know a Priest in my Parish who I think is the most Selfish, Cruel person Go Figure

Definitely not the religion but the individual who interprets the religion' and We all interpret things differently.......

Hello Everyone, I go to

Hello Everyone,
I go to Bethel and my kids and I attend church there but we do not attend the school.
Ben went there for Pre-K and the teachers and staff are wonderful with the kids, patient and loving..
I would consider it to be an Independent Baptist Church, but I am not sure of there is an official "descripton" the church as a whole goes by,,

The school I believe is just for members and their families, you may want to call for more info..

The Number to the church is 215-426-1909

Services on Sundays, 10:00, 11:00 and 6:00, as well as on Wednesdays at 7:00, all are welcome to come.. (shameless plug I know..:)

I think it is important to keep in mind that when you have a place that operates in the inner city across varying community lines that there will be a large diversity of people with their own unique reasons for being there, but regardless of the reasons, God wants them there!
I am certainly not perfect, and I am no better than anyone else in God's eyes and I surely have no gurantee that me, my kids or my family will not be placed in situations where we might make the wrong choices just because we go to church.
I think people make judgements about things, including me, because we don't understand it. So, some people call Bethel a "cult", that doesn't bother me, it works for our family and I am glad for anyone that walks into our doors to hear God's word..

This is just my opinion, not an official statement of behalf of Bethel, I do not have the authority to do that,,

The following

would give anyone reason to believe it's all of the Bethel students in your opinion. Sometimes syntax does matter.

No problem,,, I obviously did not interpret what you meant correctly as the lanuage was a little mis-leading there, but I still think it was important to note though,,
I was not claiming those traits to myself or anyone at the church specifically , nor am I denying anything about anyone you may have had personal experience with, I honestly wouldn't know that, I am just saying it is an inner city church with a lot of people in attendance who have a lot of different experiences and reasons for being there,, hence we are all human, flaws and all..

THAT IS SO TRUE!!!!!!!!!

Trust me, I can remember my Daughter Sherry, the best kid' never had a problem with her' always had the best grades' came home on time' never had to worry about her' she was so good' and then during jumior year' one of her gf's got pregnant and the mother of the g/f was so Excited to be a Grandmother' and was throwing this huge babyshower and everything was a celebration, and I made tons of comments; mean comments, about her being nutz' and her daughter is ruining her life etc' and sure enough, my Sherry the best kid' got pregnant and left home 4 months to Graduation' dropped out her senior year' moved in with her creepy BF and family, and my life was HELL. And she destroyed hers'

So instead of saying outloud what I think about someone's parenting, I just keep it to myself' because I think I jinxed myself =)

When you live your life for your kids, and do everything in your power to help them become the best person that they can be, there comes a time when you no longer have "Control" and have to stand on the sidelines and hope and pray that they make and choose the right decisions and direction in life.

Standing on the sidelines is horrible' and I am here on the sidelines now' and it's the most terrible thing in the world,

My point was' I shouldn't judge or talk about anyone elses' Kids' because today my child may be wonderful and then tomorrow they can make a stupid choice that can change their lives forever ~ It can happen to the Best of Kids'

When i was in my teens

When i was in my teens reverend Dom from bethal baptist tried his best to get me to come to his church. He was actually a nice guy but a little pushy in my opinion. Maybe even a little nuts. He used to stop by my house a lot to talk. I still have the bible that he left at my house with certain passages marked off for me to read.
