I love it. A Shad Fest. Can someone tell me the last time an actual shad swam in this part of the Delaware (a regular one with fins, not feet or three heads)?? Next year we'll have the Bridesburg Woolly Mammoth Fest.

i hate to break it to you but the river is full of fish and the shad do go upstream every year occasionally you will see one while fishing down at greenbergs also there plenty of stripers down in the river they also come up stream to spawn

The river is actually

The river is actually cleaner now than it has been in the last fifty years....

I know, I know. I remember

I know, I know. I remember reading a while back about the increase of shad in the Delaware in these parts. Lambertville, NJ has actually having a shad fest for some years now to celebrate their return in the spring. I was really just being facetious.

There is also evidence that the Schuylkill river is getting cleaner too. They actually have cameras under the water at those little falls by the Fairmount Waterworks and a couple years back they actually had a river otter going back and forth on the camera. River officials were saying that was the first time in many, many years they spotted a river otter in the Schuylkill.

The festival actually sounds like a good time. That last festival they had at Penn Treaty last year was a lot of fun. Great food. Good art vendors.

A beaver was recently sighted in the Detroit River -- first one in 75 years. (It was alive too.) Anything is possible.
