Hair extensions?

qbert4578's picture

So I got my hair "trimmed" the other day... turned out to be a CUT. I'm freaking out! It's not short by most people's standards, but it is to me and I'm actually considering hair extensions until it grows back. I know, extreme... but I'm desperate. I never do anything to my hair and I finally decide to something and it turned out horribly!!

My question: Has anyone ever gotten hair extensions? If so, where? About how much did they spend?

I went to one salon today and was quoted a ridiculous price (or at least it seemed that way to me...) I'm just looking for some other possible places/options.

Thanks.

Well, I did try once. I was so excited when I saw "No Country For Old Men" that I ran out and got this done:

I have no regrets...Friendo.

Suck it up Q. Your hair

Suck it up Q. Your hair will grow back sooner than you think! ;) And I highly doubt anything you do to your hair would make you look bad!

I saw the grossest thing the other day with hair extensions. A woman was running her fingers through her hair and these long braided (she was black) ropes of hair were falling out of her head onto the floor of the take out restaurant I was in line at.

I left without eating.

So typical of Le Bec Fin these days.

Don't just "suck it

Don't just "suck it up".

Actually BELIEVE the people who say you look good with your new haircut - even if it's not the haircut you picture yourself having.

The problem is that no matter how many people tell q that she looks great and that the cut is flattering (I'm sure it is. She's too pretty for it not to be.), she still hates the fact that it's shorter than she wants. Unless she gets extensions or a wig, she'll have to be patient while it grows out. That's all I was saying.

Being the receipient of many

Being the receipient of many a bad hair cut over the years I can only say be thankful it happened in winter when you can wear a hat as opposed to the hot summer, and it always grows back,

My mom gave me some lanolin, some thick nasty smelling stuff to use on your scalp at night,,
It actually helps with re-growth and the fullness of your hair,, you might want to try it,,

did I mention it is thick nasty smelling stuff? I was desperate though, my bangs were SO SHORT, but if you decide to try it do a small test area I guess to make sure it washed out o-k ad your are hapy with it,,

I used it for about a month every other night and I definitly noticed a difference..

Good luck!!

You should go down to City

You should go down to City Hall and ask around. I don't think it would take you too long to find some city employees who could be more than helpful.

Clearly you don't watch The Hills or Real Housewives of Orange County. They all have extensions, too.

You're probably just shocked by the change. It may not be the most flattering cut that you've ever had, I'm betting that it looks fine. :)

Extensions are expensive.

Extensions are expensive. It's usually real hair and they have to weave it into your hair--basically sewn in.

All the women in Hollywood have them. Of course, Britney.

I say that you should give it a couple of days to grow on you. I HATED this blonde and the long bangs I had cut into my hair for about 3 days and now I'm okay with both--in fact, got the blonde touched up about a week and a half ago when I thought by then I'd be going back dark.

Just so everyone can sleep

Just so everyone can sleep easier, I personally inspected Qbert's hair. As I suspected it looked great and can be chalked up to a extreme case of salon remorse. Qbert and hair are resting comfortably and will make a full recovery.

Qbert, Investigate local

Qbert,
Investigate local beauty schools, who do everything incredibly cheaper than a salon. (Of course they're students).
Other than that, let me just say, I am not a fan of hair, it has outlived its usefulness through evolution, I keep my hair just short enough not to scare the children, however, were it more socially acceptable for a fat old lady to just be bald, I would get rid of it all, and just get some nice ink up there.

Article in the Metro

Article in the Metro today--pick it up. Saying average extensions in Philly run $200 but listed a beauty school that does it for like $65. Didn't pay attention to the name (wouldn't personally cheat on my stylist for someone in school but if it was something like extensions that I'm sure she doesn't do...)
