Open Air Drug Dealing......what to do?

frankdatank's picture

I have on video at least 10 deals that have gone on in the last week in the area between the Triple Shot Tavern ( Letterly and Cedar ) and the 2400 blocks of Cumberland and Letterly Sts. This guy isn't even trying to hide anything at all. The cars double park out front and enter his home as well. I also have all the tags of the buyers on video as well.

Any suggestions? Should I keep taping ? Go to police with tape? I have friends that are high up in the narc division as well and they are going to help me out.

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Sounds like you already have

Sounds like you already have your plan and done your work. My understanding is, if Narcotics is investigating, all other divisions are kept out. I could very well be wrong about that but it makes sense given how dangerous that divisions' job is.

Post it on YouTube. I have tons of footage of kids smoking pot on rooftops.

Awesome idea, if I can just figure out how to do it.

I think I'm going to send it to Fox, NBC-10 special investigation departments. They love that type of thing, especially when you can see the small children playing in the background!

Ive been killed for my outlook on it but i dont think the cops will do much . If they catch him with a few dimes its not worth it for them ? I guess sending it to fox would be the best thing to do . I know many cops that drive past things like that unless they know its a big fish not some nickle/dime bagger ?
WHen i was younger people would hide it but not today these kids dont give a crap about being seen its insane .

Great idea! That exposure for Fistown on the news is sure to help your home value, almost as much as it will encourage a better class of neighbor to move to Fishtown. Yup, every trailer park wants to be on the TV news.

Go for it!

Doing the above and/or posting it on YouTube COULD endanger the lives of those who are already investigating.

Give your friends at Narcotics a copy of the tape; keep the original for yourself. If after a reasonable amount of time, nothing is done; then and only then, turn it over to the media.

Watch out for yourself too

Watch out for yourself too though. I would try to stay an anonymous source, I think, unless I could really be sure that whoever I gave a video to could really use it to lock up the perps.

You could also just stand on

You could also just stand on the corner right next to them. Just stand there.

Read a book, drink a cup of coffee. Just hang out. They will feel uncomfortable and leave.

No wonder I haven't seen no

No wonder I haven't seen no deals going on at Cedar and Cumberland. They moved thier business down to the next block. Guess they got tired of me yelling and threating them that I was calling the cops.

It's funny, it seems like the guy was reading this. Three times today he got into his car for short trips. I was right on my stoop w/ my camera filming him.

A word to the wise......if

A word to the wise......if your tapes do not actually show the drugs that are supposedly being passed off there is not much police will do.Two years ago someone did same as you and taped what they thought were drug deals;unfortunately, all that showed on tape was fellow handing something off to another person and did not show what item was....outcome was that nothing could be done and that fellow is still riding around in his car handing something out his window to customers.
I have seen one fellow numerous times meeting with various people on Letterly St..He walks down street shakes their hand and goes on his merry way.He does not live in area.I often go by Triple Shot and see young fellows standing on corner but I personally have never seen a drug deal go down.I know there is a house on Cumberland St. that is on same side as doctors office.A young fellow lives there who I have seen on numerous occasions running in and out of his house with a few friends .The only thing I ever see them with is either fast food or video games.
These streets are along my beaten path and I travel them several times a day.I am also strolling around in early a.m. hours;no,I'm not conducting business(lol)I take my pooch out for a walk.I must admit there are some pretty interesting people out and about at around one ,two in morning.I learned a long time ago to never say never so I'll pay closer attention to the blocks you have mentioned.Good luck, but please be careful

I know what house you are talking about - I can see it from my house. They probably have the drugs stashed in the video game boxes or fast food containers. Sneaky little mahoos. Marm - you're right. I am glad they have moved from our block (for now) but it is a shame that they are on anyone's block now. Augh.

whaaa the cops won't do

whaaa the cops won't do anything.
frank i applaud you for taking a stand & videotaping, rather than whine about what the "cops" won't do. you'd be surprised what the cops will do when the people are very cooperative and supportive. no matter how much the district cops do with their limited resources they're often booed - especially on this site.

call the 26th Dist - ask to speak with someone in NETS. they set up the surveillances of areas with drug complaints. most often from unmarked vehicles, sometimes from the homes of willing civilians wanting the scum out of their neighborhood - when they use these locations they are ALWAYS confidential... The NETS team spend a lot of their time on the west side of front, but if you make a request for those patrols in your area they will definitely look into it.

good luck with getting rid of the problem
