I've said it once and I'll say it again, start cracking down on quality of life stuff and you'll catch people who are wanted for the bigger stuff.

I agree with Laura on the

I agree with Laura on the "quality of life" stuff...
but I also think we can do stuff like being out on our steps,
and speaking up when people are acting incorrectly.

Definitely the three items

Definitely the three items that would help the most are the:

1) sitting on the steps / being outside more neighborly,
2) parents more involved in kids whereabouts, and
3) speaking up when you see something wrong.

Although I would sign up to be a part of the roving sniper team.

I dont think there is

I dont think there is anything you can do as one person . I sat here trying to think of one thing and couldnt come up with anything .Sitting on the step wont stop anyone from making a sale right in front of you ... the thugs around here couldn care less .. More cops walking beat is one thing i think that would help ..

Getting to know your

Getting to know your neighbors and working with them to keep the streets clean is a very effective way to discourage crime. Unkempt homes and sidewalks are magnets to thugs.

We should have a monthly event...Sidewalk Saturdays...where everyone does something in the neighborhood(s). Clean your pavement, help with an organized effort or has a block party etc. Sorta like First Fridays.
