the great christmas east kensington power outage

it's bad enough that I come down with a cold on Christmas Eve. I can't do much else other than waste my entire day/night watching garbage TV and movies. I'm at home by myself watching my favorite new Troma movie and the power goes off, almost at the stroke of Christmas day! I believe 11:53 PM was the exact time.

I took the opportunity (or lack thereof) to walk my dog. seems as though the outage was from about Cumberland to Huntington and Frankford to Memphis. it was really eerie out there because it was unseasonably warm, the sky was white due to the storm on it's way, and there was a warm (considering that it's December 25th) breeze.

4 hours it lasted. the power just came back on here, at 3:30 in the morning.

did anyone else receive this lovely early Christmas present in the form of a 4 hour power outage?

We just had the slight

We just had the slight brown-out while you were losing your power. Merry Christmas.

We had the full-on blackout.

We had the full-on blackout. Listened to CDs on the computer until the battery died. Called PECO, they said 2102 customers affected, and estimated power back on at 2:10. The only ones in the whole neighborhood who had power were the newly rehabbed condos at Delaware Ribbon - go figure. Anyway, we're telling the nieces and nephews that Santa crashed into a light pole because they were naughty not nice. Anyway, power back on at 2:12.

I'm around Cedar and Sergeant and starting at around 11:30, my lights kept going dim then back up again. They never went out totally though.

If it wasn't exactly 11:53,

If it wasn't exactly 11:53, it was a minute or two either side of that time.

I was driving east on York Street when it happened. I know it's freaky when your house goes black, but it was really bizarre driving down York Street and it seemed like the whole city went black.

I was coming home around

I was coming home around 12:45 from a friends house and found it really strange that as soon as I pulled onto susquehanna from frankford, it was all black. Each block continued to be void of all light and yes, as it was creepy I was also crossing my fingers that by the time I got home , perhaps my block was ok.
Alas, the black out went way past my block, but fortunately, Coral Street Arts House was spared! We were the only lights on for as far as I could see and our parking lot light the only out-door street light. Yay for subsidized artists! yay.

Okay, there is a house full of people now laughing at me because I'm laughing hysterically.

Joe, that is the funniest thing I've seen/heard/read in months.

Bravo!

That's it, Kat.
You're about to receive a letter from the African-
