Metro Hardware on Front St.

I just wanted to let you all know about a hardware store I found today to get a new single pane window fixed. They even do screen repairs as well. At one time we use to go to the Forks and use that hardware store for repairs but since its now a florist I had no idea where to go, but now I do. Metro Hardware is on Front Street between Spring Garden and Fairmount...........just a tad outside of Fishtown but figured to let everyone else know where it was if you have a hard time finding places to fix window/screens.

The service was great. All I did was left them my name and number and I had a phone call about a half hour later letting me know it was fixed. Great to have a local hardware store and they have alot of tools as well. They are open 7 days a week and their phone number is (215)238-0600.

Would just like to give a shout to this place. Been there several times since they opened. Great store, has pretty much everything you need for home repair. The owner is the best. He'll help you find anything you need. There is nothing like personalized service. A nice change from the big box stores.

Be sure to stop by the place if you need anything. Always good (and important) to support local small businesses.

We love this place too.

We love this place too. They're so friendly, and if you need advice like we do, they work with you to make sure you're getting the right tool for the job for the least amount of dough. Good people.

Stopped in today for a toilet flapper. Can't comment much other than the employee (owner?) was very nice and they not only had toilet flappers, they had ones made in the US....unlike the crappy chinese ones HD has that need replacing every year.

Is the dog a permanent fixture in the shop? Seriously, I'm much more willing to give my money to a business that has a dog all other things being equal.

Ah sweet--

This is like my love of Bell Flooring on 2nd Street near Liberties Walk. They not only are super helpful and have competitive pricing but the dog there is a trip. He'll never come near you unless you bug him to and then he'll be your best friend. It just makes it seem all warm and fuzzy to go there.

Yep, just wanted to jump on the bandwagon as a fan of these guys, too. The owner helped a lot when I needed some little (or big) thing or the other as we moved in to our new house and got settled. So helpful, so friendly, and so much closer than the big box stores. Buy local! It's for more than just vegetables...

But if all you 'buy local people' stop going to HD, how will my 30 odd shares of HD ever make me rich? :dontknow:
