Good documentary about Philly Crime from BBC

frankdatank's picture

Louis Theroux from BBC rides alongside PHilly PPD in this documentary filmed in the 22nd, 24th, 25th and 26th Districts. As a big of shows like Cops, I was completely glued to my screen!! If you search, " Law and Disorder in Philadelphia " on youtube, there are 6 parts and I promise it is worth watching.

I would assume that it aired

I would assume that it aired on BBC at one point, but I am not sure. I don't even know if they have an on-demand channel

I watched the series on

I watched the series on youtube, very compelling stuff. I think it's also on torrent sites, if you want a higher quality file. Doubt it'll be on BBC America any time soon, though who knows. There is also an episode on Johannesburg, South Africa that does a good job of keeping things in perspective. I thought the narrator does a terrific job at trying to get at the root cause of all mayhem.

I watched it a few weeks

I watched it a few weeks ago.

Fascinating stuff, especially when you recognize much of it takes place just a few blocks away. (Kensinginton & Somerset, I think, is the closest I saw to Fishtown - although I didn't take note of where all the Under-the-El stuff was being recorded).

Went up to K&A over the weekend and rode up under the el. I couldn't believe K&S. A very blatent open air drug market with prostitues standin right at the septa depot property. Not a cop or septa security officer in site. I Was stuck at the red light and everyone there was stairing at me. Didn't know if they thought i was the man or a buyer. It was like they were waiting for me to wave them over. I feel sorry for anyone who has to enter the el there.

I like to go up to K&S every

I like to go up to K&S every once in awhile to talk to people.

At first most find it very confusing.
Some walk away.
Others get into long, involved conversations.

Sometimes the police chase me away, other times they thank me.
It's an amazing place.

Yeah.

At least all the death and mayhem is going to import something important.
