i was driving the 25 bus and the crowd at richmond and orthodox was wild (10:10p.m.)about 300 strong and wild i was stuck there for about 45 min. i just wished i could have joined them in the drinking sure looked like fun

The crowd I saw was

The crowd I saw was wonderful. We had a ton of people at JB's and they exploded onto Girard after the final out. Sure, you throw the rules out in a situation like that (you think we were gonna stop anyone from drinking outside??) but all I saw was unbridled joy without any nonsense at all.

I'm so happy for Philadelphia. No more of this stupid "curse" nonsense and the Phillies are such a likable bunch that EARNED this title.

I'm still annoyed that a few people thought I was rooting for Tampa just because I'm from Florida. Can I explain a few things in that regard?

First of all, I'm from Miami---NOT Tampa. Miami would be the BIG city down there full of exotic people and skyscrapers...not the trailer park with a Waffle House known as 'Tampa,' OK?

Also, Miami teams do not name themselves after bodies of water such as the Tampa Bay Whatevers.

Steve Carlton ("Lefty") was from Miami---so was Jerome Brown and Bill Conti, who wrote the 'Rocky' theme. Tampa produces conch shell lamps and bug spray or whatever.

So what I'm saying is the next person making a Miami/Tampa connection in regards to me gets a beer dumped on their head.

And my mom...born and raised in Upper Darby...couldn't get enough of hearing all the joy out on Girard on my cellphone last night.

May this victory help lift the veil of gloom that too often exists in this wonderful city. WINNERS!!!

No, I actually went to bed. But I just heard that there was actually some looting in Center City. Surprise surprise.

All accounts that I have

All accounts that I have heard and read on the news said that the carnage that ensued after the game was not as bad as what they anticipated. People who are surprised that there was any carnage at all should look at what happens when any city wins a major sporting event.

I am not saying that I condone bad behavior, but when you have a large city filled with people, there is a big mix. Some people are not as smart as others. They get crazy and flip cars. This town is definitely not the only town where this happens. It happens in a whole bunch of places.

Sadly, I was working. I was not able to be here...in Fishtown...where I would have been flipping cars...and wreaking havoc...and making carnage...with an axe.

Remind me again what we were talking about. Was there some kind of sporting event of some sort here last night? Oh yeah...uh...Go Phils.

Here is a picture of me at work last night...

Girard Ave was Awesome last

Girard Ave was Awesome last night' The coolest thing that I saw was a car driving by with a Canoe on the Roof and a Woman and Man sitting in the Canoe with Oars and All!!

I was on the phone with my Johnny (away at School) and he was so upset that he wasn't on Girard Ave' I felt Bad!!

Weird, Since he has been gone' I actually Like living Alone' especially since I know he is on Campus and Safe. But last night' after the Game' there was no one there to share that Moment with, and for the 1st time since he has been gone, I felt sad =(

My Sister' lives in our childhood home at Kensington and Somerset, and she said it was horrible there; they started 2 fires in the abandon houses on her street, shooting guns all night, lit a car on fire around the corner.

It really sucks' that there are people who feel the need to be Destructive during a Time of Bliss and Happiness, Unreal.......

Has there been an estimate

Has there been an estimate on the amount damage done? I went down to Broad st. after celebrating in Fishtown , and while it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, I did see two cabs get flipped, a lot of small fires, and nonstop bottles being launched at the buildings. For the most part people were just having a good time, though.

lauraska's picture

I'm all for celebrating a

I'm all for celebrating a victory and the Phillies earned this one for sure.

On the other hand, I hardly think it's fair to the people whose cars were destroyed or whose stores were broken into and looted, to throw up our hands and say, "oh well, it's happenned in other cities, what can ya do?" Because while there has been rioting in other cities, there are plenty of cities where people have celebrated a major sports victory without needing to set things on fire. I just don't want the national impression of Philly to be that our fans are a bunch of animals who can't just celebrate a World Series win and be happy, without having to destroy the place.

But I really don't want to ruin this thread. I think that most of what went on last night was good, clean fun and I'm very happy for the Phils and all their long-suffering fans.

Last night was great! From

Last night was great! From the fireworks on my block to the celebration on Girard, it was pure, unadulterated joy. Props to Philly for keeping the celebration (mostly) civil. Compare that to Boston after the Red Sox won their first title. Shoot, I remember armored cars in the streets when my school (Maryland) won the NCAA championship back in 2002.

Philly fans are good fans!! Maybe now everyone will shut their trap about the Santa Claus getting bood 30 years ago.
