Woohoo! Rescued from the brink of extinction, thanks to a re-energized D-Line in the 4th Quarter. It showed the talent we have there; three guys rush against their five, and we still get to the quarterback. The D-Line saved our season.

Nice job by McNabb, again. I really don’t think he’s our problem. There wasn’t much rhythm to the offense and we were once again atrocious in the red zone, but that’s not all Donovan. His problem lies mostly is getting out of a rhythm when receivers drop balls or run bad routes. When he’s in rhythm, he’s deadly. What’s remarkable is that for an offense that is built on the passing game, the Eagles have never been able to develop a go-to, stud receiver. They’ve mostly been a collection of second and third receivers, with an emphasis on the latter. The only go-to, stud receiver we ever had under Andy was T.O.

I was all prepared to rail against L.J., for lackadaisical route running (or should I say route jogging) and also for getting pancaked, but then he went and made a nice TD catch on a tough throw from Donovan. He’s been excusing his slow start with complaints about not getting enough touches. Not sure if this is a chicken or egg thing.

Akers? (heavy sigh). The kick that was blocked was a great play by the defender. Even a short, high trajectory kick would have been blocked. No doubt about that. That’s not Akers’ fault. He made all of his other kicks, as he should have. His kickoffs were kinda short, but he gets a pass this week.

I’ll give Andy a pass, too, especially after seeing the coaching job done by Mike Nolan. Andy may not be the best coach in the NFL, but he ain’t the worst either.

Here’s your stone cold lock fantasy football team Tip of the Week...if a tight end on your fantasy team is playing against the Eagles and he’s on the bench, start him. If he’s not on your team and available on waivers, pick him up and start him. What is it with our inability to cover this position? It’s an issue Jimmie Johnson needs to address. Maybe we can get a rule passed during the bye week that makes the tight end an ineligible receiver. In the long run, we’d benefit.

Jiminy Crickets, I’m feeling beneficent this week! Giving passes to Akers and Reid, thinking up brilliant new rules, and revealing top secret fantasy football picks. Oh, wait a minute. That really wasn't a top secret.

How’s that, kdubs?

That's a good opening sentence, but Andy wouldn't be the only one who precedes the gist of the commentary.
