Re-posting: Rent in Fishtown

JessK's picture

I posted this yesterday but it got deleted. I was trying to get an idea of what to expect to pay in Fishtown and surrounding areas. I'd appreciate any suggestions on areas of Fishtown (or surrounding areas...Port Richmond/Kensington) to check out or avoid.

Thanks again!

You can rent a room in an illegal rooming house for around 300/month. Maybe you should try being a little more specific.

Hi Jess! I saw your post

Hi Jess!

I saw your post yesterday... the house next to my hubs and I in East Kensington on Dauphin and Coral is a brand new rehab... the tenants will be the first people to live in it. It's really amazing condition... they rocked it out. They're charging $1350 for a 4 bedroom. You can definitely get cheaper, but you'd be paying for living on a really nice block with great neighbors (not just us... all the neighbors are great).

If you're interested, let me know and I can put you in touch with the owners.

-Jes

GEEZ! I'm right here. You could at least wait until I leave the room.

I posted all the specifics

I posted all the specifics yesterday, but I should probably post them again so here they are:

Ideally we'd like a 2 bedroom, but we looking to keep rent as low as possible so we'll probably end up in a 1 bedroom. The biggest thing I'm looking for is safety. I'd like to stay near Fishtown...but East Kensington / Port Richmond seems like something we'd be interested in too. I remember someone mentioned yesterday that most of the places in Fishtown are 2 bedroom houses that are at least $1000/mo. I don't know if we can spend over $1000/mo and would like to stay closer to $800/mo if possible so we may need to look at areas nearby rather than right in Fishtown.

Jes - That place sounds great, but I think it's more than we can afford right now. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I have a friend in East Kensington who is renting a house in the 900-1000 range. Jeff Carpineta at SOLO Realty. I've never seen the inside of the property but I think Jeff would be a great landlord. PVT me if you want his telephone number.

Thanks for the advice...I just checked out the SOLO Realty site. I'll message you for his number.
