I know.

I'm just weary of all the nonsense.

That's a good word for that

That's a good word for that song too--weary. I don't mean to rag on it. It just sounds like Lennon hadn't slept for a week when he recorded it.

Really?

I dunno...I always thought it was intentionally wistful sounding. Not so much a 'call to arms' as just a gentle wish that things were different from how they are.

No matter. It's just the whole racial subtext with this election that has me really down (and the reason I'm clinging to old standards like 'Imagine.') I'm just an unrepentant, middle-aged liberal who feels like a stranger in a strange land a lot of the time. When will we ever get past it?

Could be I'm projecting my weariness with the election campaign too: too many public people trying to prove themselves and getting too personal. It's really not about them--it's about the job. Being President is going to be a hellacious experience this time.

Well, look which word made it through the content filter-- I didn't do that on purpose, Dan.

What? "hellacious"? nothing wrong with that word.

What about the perfectly acceptable term for a female dog...as in "the bitch strutted her stuff before the judges and won 'Best in Show' in the Spaniel category?"

(I really DO sympathize will the ethical and linguistic juggling act you have to do here, btw, Dan...but it's awkward to have to write 'Richard' Cavett, y'know?) :)

Yeah, I know.
Originally I intentionally omitted "ambiguous" words like that.
What happened was people would discover the words that weren't included in the filter and start using them extensively.
