As our neighbors, we thought you’d want to know:

Atonement Lutheran Church is pleased to welcome as renters Shalom Inc. Adolescent Violence Reduction Partnership Program. Who are they? Shalom, Inc. operates two Adolescent Violence Reduction Partnership (AVRP) Program Center-Based sites, in Fishtown and South Philadelphia.

At the Afterschool Program at Atonement 25-40 children age 10-15 are provided with an environment in which they are encouraged to learn new ways of relating to each other, positive conflict resolution skills, anger management skills, life skills and other pro-social abilities. Our youth participants have weekly Mural Arts classes and are involved in other community service programs and recreational activities. During the school year the afterschool program hours are 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., and during the summer, 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Shalom’s AVRP Program is funded through Philadelphia Department of Human Services Prevention Programs. Atonement Lutheran Church is pleased to be partners in this worthy effort as they work to stem the tide of violence sweeping our neighborhoods. The AVRP program will be housed in our second floor classrooms. All the youth are escorted to the program and supervised at all times when at Atonement Lutheran Church.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Pastor Maggie Ainslie at 215 205 6272. If you are interested in enrolling a child in the program, you can contact AVRP directly at 215 425-1515. Thanks!
